A flight departs from Kolkata airport and the second from Chennai airport with both taking about two hours journey time to reach the Veer Savarkar Airport in Port Blair.  The third flight leaves Kolkota to Delhi before connecting Port Blair.

·         Jet Connect – Jet Connect’s first flight connects Kolkota airport from Delhi before heading to Port Blair.

 

 

By Sea

BEST SEASON TO VISIT ANDAMAN

Andaman is a popular tourist haven that enjoys pleasant temperature all year round. Main seasons at Andaman are winter, summer, and monsoon. It is advisable to stay away during monsoon due to strong winds and tidal waves. The weather is as high as 35°c in summers and as low as 15°c in the winter.

·         Summer (April-Mid July)

 Temperature ranges from 24-37°c. This is a suitable time to schedule a visit to the Island as all water sports will be available and tourist can visit different locations.

·         Monsoon (July-September)

The temperature of Andaman during monsoons ranges from 22-35°c. This is not a good time to visit Andaman as water sport will most likely be unavailable due to high rainfall and strong winds. Tourists are advised to stay off at a time as this.

·         Winter (October-March)

The temperature is between 20-30°c. This is another good time to visit Andaman. Theweather is conducive for all kinds of sports.

 

THINGS TO DO IN ANDAMAN

1.   Visit Cellular Jail

The cellular jail was a brutal prison in the history of Indian’s independence but has been converted into a museum to preserve its rich history. A visit to the museum will expose you to an eternal flame of freedom which was erected in the memory of past heroes.  The museum also contains pictures of old freedom fighters and a library containing remains of the freedom movement.


 

 

2.   Visit Mahatma Gandhi  Park

The Mahatma Gandhi marine national park is a unique feature on the Andaman Islands. The park was wrecked by Tsunami in 2013, it has however been refurbished. Diverse species of marine organisms can be found in the park.  The best period plan visit to the park is from November to mid-February. June and August is characterized by heavy rainfall so the park is closed.

3.   Explore the Limestone Cave

The Baratang limestone cave is a beauty of to behold any day. Due to chemical reaction, the shape of the cave changes during rainfall. Sedimentary rocks are formed when marine life, shells, skeletons decompose at the depth of the ocean to form a rich organic spectacle. Experience nature’s wonder at its best in the limestone cave,with its purity and texture.

4.   Scuba Diving

You will not want to miss theadventurous opportunity of scuba diving for anything once you get to Andaman. The waters surrounding Andaman is blessed with reefs, fishes and abundant marine life. To enjoy scuba diving at Andaman, you need no formal training.

5.   Snorkeling
